Background and aims: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between cognitive strategies of emotion regulation and burnout with the mediating role of job stress in welfare employees.
Methods:The study was a correlation and statistical population that included all General Department of Welfare employees of South Khorasan Province in 2019 (1350 people). Two hundred twenty-eight people were selected with available sampling methods and completed the maslach job burnout (1981), job stress (HSE), and cognitive adjustment of Granfsky et al. (2001) questionnaires'. The research data were analyzed using SPSS and LISREL software, descriptive statistics indicators, Pearson correlation coefficient, and path analysis.
Results: The test results of the initially proposed pattern indicated that this pattern did not fit. The adjustments made were confirmed the general characteristics of the overall fit of the pattern (CFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.93, GFI = 0.98, , RSMEA = 0.77, df=5, χ 2= 10.58).
Conclusion: The model's results confirmed in the present study indicate that the relationship between cognitive strategies of emotion regulation and burnout is not linear and simple, and job stress has an intermediary role in this relationship.
