ABSTRACT
Background and Aims: Disasters and emergencies are significant factors threatening human health and causing adverse economic, social, and environmental consequences. To improve the resilience of health service providers, attention should be given to their spiritual and religious aspects, in addition to specialized skills, by incorporating verses from the Quran and Hadiths. Therefore, the present study aimed to design and validate an educational package to enhance the resilience of health service providers in disasters based on religious texts.
Methods: This research was conducted using a mixed-method approach and is a developmental-applied study. In the first stage, educational topics were identified, and relevant articles, verses from the Quran, and Hadiths were selected to design an educational package. To validate the package, the resilience of two groups of participants, including a control group and an intervention group, was assessed using a reliable and valid tool. After presenting the designed educational package, the resilience of the intervention group was re-evaluated.
Results: In the first stage, the topics of the educational sessions were determined as gratitude, prayer, the nature of disasters and hardships, compassion, and reliance. The findings showed that providing an educational package improves the resilience of health service providers in disasters
Conclusion: The most effective way to enhance disaster preparedness and resilience is through targeted training programs. The results of this study indicate that training health care providers using religious texts significantly improves their resilience in disaster situations.
