Background and Aims  In the last decades, hazardous wastes have been one of the most important issues resulted from industries progress. Improper transport of hazardous waste has created many problems for human health and the environment. Therefore it is necessary to adopt management plan for disposal of waste materials. Regarding our country pollution control plan needs to be advanced in parallel with industrial progress. A proper management system for transport, treatment and final disposal of hazardous waste is critical.. The aim of this research was the survey of quality and quantity content of hazardous wastes and its management methods in Damghan industries in 1389.

Methods :  This research is a cross-sectional- descriptive study about quality and quantity content of hazardous waste and its management in Damghan industries in 1389. Statistical society was included of nine active factories related to coil, paper, drug, coke and tools production from 118 active factory in Damghan city . A questionnaire was completed about quality and quantity and management of hazardous wastes. Then graphs were designed by Excel micro soft.

Results :Total hazardous wastes were 31250 kg per month in Damghan factories. Six factories had toxic wastes, 3 factories corrosive wastes, 2 factories reactant wastes and 2 factories inflammable wastes. Industries had no control after land fill of wastes.

Conclusion:   Results of this research showed that only 33.3% of factories had special workers for collection of solid wastes, also 55% of hazardous wastes were disposed with municipal solid wastes. It is necessary that a suitable wastes management system to be existed for prevention of environment pollution. Devices renovation, change of production processes for hazardous wastes reduction, industries managers instruction for recognition of hazardous wastes and wastes optimum management, use of scientific methods for waste management can be impressive in gaining of this goals. Identification of industrial settings, primary materials that are being used, productions and their potential effects are critical factors for a correct waste management system.
