Background and aims: Social capital is the result of interpersonal communication based on trust and ethics, which leads to the development of social skills and a strategic perspective in bilateral interactions. The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of social capital on occupational complications including stress, burnout, and the desire to leave nurses.
Methods: The research is applied in terms of orientation and quantitative in terms of methodology. The time frame is spring and summer 2025. Structural equation modeling (SEM) and Smart PLS 3.0 software used to analyze the data. The population is nurses in hospitals in the Markazi province, of which 213  nurses selected by simple random sampling. A questionnaire used to collect data. The reliability of the questionnaire confirmed based on Cronbach's alpha criteria and its composite reliability and validity confirmed according to the factor loading criteria and AVE index.
Results: Social capital has an inverse and significant relationship with stress. Social capital has an inverse and significant relationship with burnout and desire to leave. Stress has a direct and significant relationship with burnout. Burnout has a direct and significant relationship with desire to leave.
Conclusion: Medical center managers can strengthen nursing social capital by explaining common goals, encouraging a network of reasonable relationships in hospitals, creating an atmosphere based on trust, mutual respect, and social support in the workplace, paying attention to motivational factors and fair incentive systems, and designing communication structures such as interdisciplinary work teams, collaborative committees, and professional nursing networks.
